Consider the details

Concrete formats, finishes and the right rated use.

Consistent shapes, a wide range of tones, and flexible laying patterns. Concrete pavers can suit both contemporary and traditional homes.

Choose the complete system

Compare dimensions, thickness, surface texture and manufacturer-rated use. Driveways, pool decks and patios may require different products or installation details.

  • Interlocking formats for vehicle-rated applications
  • Large-format options where the installation system allows
  • Borders and color blends that complement the house

See it in the space

Concrete color blends can vary across multiple units and production batches. View a representative group in the actual driveway or patio, including the border product, before agreeing on the expected appearance.

Plan care before installation

Keep the manufactured unit name, dimensions and care instructions. If cleaning or sealing is proposed, confirm its compatibility with the concrete product and joints; a driveway coating and a poolside finish may need different consideration.

Interlocking units and slabs are not identical

Concrete paving products include smaller interlocking units and larger slabs with different intended uses. A smooth large-format patio product should not be assumed to carry vehicle traffic because another concrete paver does. Read the dimensions, thickness, rated application and laying instructions together. Review the base, joints and edge details for the selected assembly; changing the unit can change the whole installation.

Compare blends, texture and pattern cuts

A showroom sample does not show the full range of a blended color. View several units beside the house and consider the proportion of lighter and darker tones across a larger area. Tumbled, textured and smooth finishes create different effects. Mixed-size patterns need the specified module quantities, while borders and curved edges add cuts. Ask how the final pattern will finish at garage openings, drains and narrow corners.

Keep maintenance practical

Dust, leaves, irrigation residue and spills call for different cleaning decisions. Use the manufacturer's recommended products and methods, and avoid washing joint material out of the surface. If sealing is proposed, discuss the appearance and maintenance of that actual finish. Keep some matching units and the product information for future repairs. Permeable paving is a separate engineered assembly, not an automatic feature of ordinary joints between concrete pavers.

Questions worth asking

Before the project begins.

Are concrete pavers the same as poured concrete?

No. Pavers are individual manufactured units installed in a specified pavement assembly. Poured concrete is formed as a continuous slab with its own joints and support. Each option has different repair, pattern and installation considerations.

Do gaps between pavers make the driveway permeable?

Not by themselves. A permeable system requires compatible units, joints, supporting layers and a drainage design. Standard jointed paving should not be advertised as a stormwater solution without that specification.

Can concrete pavers work around a pool?

Some products are intended for pool decks. Confirm the exact finish and wet-use application, including cleaning and sealer effects, rather than selecting by color alone.
