Paver Patterns & Layouts
The pattern sets the rhythm. Match it to the size of the space, the material and the way the paving will be used.
Layout diagrams are schematic, not manufacturer specifications. Unit sizes, rated use, joints and installation instructions determine which patterns are appropriate.
Ashlar
Mixed rectangular units create an intentionally varied composition.
Herringbone
A repeated interlocking rhythm commonly used for patios and driveways.
Running bond
A simple staggered layout with a clear linear direction.
Basketweave
Pairs of units alternate direction for a traditional woven effect.
Stack bond
Aligned joints create a clean grid; application suitability needs review.
Random stone
Irregular formats give the paving a less formal visual rhythm.

Grand ashlar, Arizona stone, stone tile, Mexican tile, London cobble, European fan, cobble circle and boardwalk describe additional layout or product styles. Names vary between manufacturers. Compare the actual format and pattern drawing before choosing a system.
