A paver driveway needs more than an occasional surface wash. The visible finish, joints, edges and support should be checked separately so a cosmetic treatment does not become a substitute for repair.
Walk the surface and boundaries
Look for loose edges, rocking units, gaps and depressions as well as discoloration. Note water collection and recent changes nearby. If the paving has moved, start with the cause and support before cleaning aggressively. Photograph the issue and keep the product records if available; the repair assessment should distinguish a damaged unit from wider settlement.
Identify stains before choosing a treatment
Oil, organic residues, irrigation deposits and efflorescence do not have identical causes or remedies. Establish the paving material and any old coating, then use appropriate guidance. Test a small inconspicuous area and protect adjoining planting or finishes. A strong generic cleaner is not a better choice simply because it removes a mark quickly.
Protect the joint system
Washing can remove joint material, especially where the joints are already weak. Assess loss and choose a compatible renewal method when needed. Polymeric joint products require their own preparation and activation conditions. Sweeping new material over dirt or unstable units does not restore the whole pavement. Check edge restraints as part of that assessment.
Evaluate sealer condition rather than adding yearly coats
Natural-look and enhancing products can have different effects and upkeep needs. Techniseal cautions that routine annual extra coats can damage a finish. Identify the existing treatment before recoating and follow its drying, compatibility and application instructions. An assessment of the actual surface is more useful than one fixed resealing interval for every driveway.
Keep the care record
Save the unit, joint-material and treatment names with the installation information. Retain matching spare units where practical and discuss expected repair appearance. If an older product is unavailable, a complementary design change may make more sense than a near match. Cleaning or sealing should not be presented as a cure for broken units or a failed base.
Arrange the right scope
Separate cleaning, joint renewal, coating work and any lifting or repairs in the estimate. Explain the area, material and symptoms rather than requesting restoration without defining it. Confirm current maintenance-service availability and how access will be handled for the actual driveway.
